PTE Academic vs PTE Core: which do you need?

Pearson runs two PTE tests, and they are not interchangeable. The right one depends entirely on your goal: PTE Academic for study and some migration, PTE Core for Canadian permanent residency and citizenship. Here is how to choose, and what differs between them.
