PTE Exam Fee 2026: How Much PTE Costs in Every Country
The PTE fee depends on where you take the test: US$275 in the US, TRY 10,000 in Turkey, US$251 in Taiwan, €280 in Germany, US$235 in Brazil, KRW 306,000 in South Korea, CA$360 in Canada and ₹18,900 in India. Here is Pearson's fee for all 124 locations it lists, plus PTE Core, UKVI and Home, refunds, rescheduling, rescores, vouchers and how PTE compares with IELTS on cost.

On this page
PTE Academic costs US$275 in the United States, TRY 10,000 in Turkey, US$251 in Taiwan, €280 in Germany, US$235 in Brazil, KRW 306,000 in South Korea and CA$360 in Canada. Pearson sets the fee country by country, in the currency you pay there. PTE Core and PTE Academic UKVI cost the same as PTE Academic almost everywhere. The shorter PTE Home tests cost less.
Where Pearson charges in US dollars, the fee runs from US$160 in Ukraine to US$425 in Saudi Arabia. Below are the fees country by country, Pearson's full list of 124 locations, and the costs that come on top: cancelling, rescheduling, rescoring and retaking.
We took every fee from Pearson's test centres and fees page on 7 November 2026, choosing each country in turn. Pearson can change a fee at any time, and the price at checkout is the one you pay.
How much is the PTE exam fee in 2026?
There is no single worldwide PTE price. You pay the fee for the country where you sit the test, in the currency Pearson uses there. That is US dollars in most places. Pearson charges in euros in 21 European locations and in the local currency in 15 others, among them Turkey, South Korea, Canada, China, the UK, India and Australia.
| Country | PTE Academic, UKVI and Core | PTE Home A1, A2 and B1 |
|---|---|---|
| United States | US$275 | US$230 |
| Turkey | TRY 10,000 | TRY 8,500 |
| Taiwan | US$251 | US$210 |
| Germany | €280 | €235 |
| Brazil | US$235 | US$195 |
| South Korea | KRW 306,000 | KRW 260,000 |
| Canada | CA$360 | CA$305 |
| France | €270 | €225 |
| Saudi Arabia | US$425 | US$360 |
| China | CNY 2,252 | CNY 1,918 |
| Mexico | US$250 | US$210 |
| Chile | US$265 | US$225 |
| Kazakhstan | US$175 | US$145 |
| India | ₹18,900 | ₹15,300 |
| Japan | US$235 | US$200 |
| United Kingdom | £230 | £160 |
| Spain | €260 | €220 |
| Peru | US$255 | US$215 |
| Australia | AU$499 | AU$420 |
Pearson's own example of the currency rule: if you live in India but will take the test in Australia, you pay in Australian dollars. A payment in the wrong currency is rejected or returned, and the booking isn't processed.
What does the PTE fee cover?
One fee covers the test and the usual things around it. Pearson lists no separate registration or booking fee.
- The test. About two hours for PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core, at a Pearson test centre.
- Your score report in your myPTE account, typically within 48 hours. Pearson allows up to five working days.
- Sending scores. You can send PTE Academic scores to as many universities and organisations as you like, free of charge.
- Visa delivery. If you tick the Australian Department of Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand box when you book, your scores go to them automatically. PTE Core scores carry a code that IRCC uses to check them, and PTE Academic UKVI scores carry a SELT reference number for the UK Home Office.
- Pearson's free preparation in myPTE: nine Guided Practice Tests, four video courses and a study plan. The Guided Practice Tests don't give you a score.
A PTE score is valid for two years from the test date. Take the test too early for an application and you may have to pay again.
PTE exam fee in the USA
PTE Academic costs US$275 in the United States, the same as PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core. The PTE Home tests cost US$230. That's less than IELTS, which costs US$280–340 in the US depending on the test centre, and less than TOEFL iBT at US$280.
If you're applying only to US universities, check whether they accept PTE Express, Pearson's separate at-home test. It isn't on Pearson's test centre fee page and doesn't count for visas. Our guide to taking PTE online explains the difference.
PTE exam fee in Turkey
In Turkey Pearson charges in Turkish lira. The PTE exam fee (PTE sınav ücreti) is TRY 10,000 for PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core, and TRY 8,500 for PTE Home.
IELTS costs more there: TRY 12,000 with the British Council and TRY 12,210 with IDP. TOEFL iBT is priced in US dollars, at US$185, so how it compares depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay.
PTE exam fee in Taiwan, South Korea, China and Japan
- Taiwan: the PTE exam fee (PTE 考試費用) is US$251 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core, and US$210 for PTE Home. Pearson charges in US dollars here; the British Council's IELTS fee is TWD 9,000.
- South Korea: the PTE fee (PTE 시험 비용) is KRW 306,000, and KRW 260,000 for PTE Home. IELTS costs KRW 347,000 with the British Council, or KRW 327,000 at its Seoul venues until the end of December 2026.
- China: CNY 2,252 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core, and CNY 1,918 for PTE Home. China is one of the few places where IELTS is cheaper, at CNY 1,990 nationwide.
- Japan: the PTE fee (PTE 受験料) is US$235, and US$200 for PTE Home. IELTS on computer costs JPY 29,700 for registrations from 1 September 2026.
PTE exam fee in Germany, France, Spain and the UK
Pearson charges in euros in most of the EU and in pounds in the UK:
- Germany: €280 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core; €235 for PTE Home.
- France: €270; €225 for PTE Home.
- Spain: €260; €220 for PTE Home.
- United Kingdom: £230 for PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core; £160 for PTE Home A1, A2 and B1. For a UK visa that needs a Secure English Language Test (SELT), book PTE Academic UKVI or a PTE Home test, not PTE Academic.
Elsewhere in Europe the euro fee runs from €220 in Ireland to €330 in Finland. The full table at the end has every country.
PTE exam fee in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Peru
All four are priced in US dollars:
- Brazil: US$235 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core; US$195 for PTE Home. IELTS costs BRL 1,360–1,460, depending on the centre.
- Mexico: US$250; US$210 for PTE Home.
- Chile: US$265; US$225 for PTE Home.
- Peru: US$255; US$215 for PTE Home.
Nearby, Colombia is US$235 and Argentina US$240.
PTE Core exam fee for Canada
PTE Core costs CA$360 in Canada, the same as PTE Academic there. PTE Home costs CA$305. PTE Core is the version IRCC accepts for permanent residence and citizenship, and it costs the same as PTE Academic in every country where Pearson lists both. If you're not sure which one you need, see PTE Academic vs PTE Core before you pay.
PTE exam fee in Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan
Saudi Arabia has the highest US-dollar fee on Pearson's list: US$425 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core, and US$360 for PTE Home. IELTS costs SAR 1,705 there.
Kazakhstan is near the other end, at US$175 (US$145 for PTE Home). Only Ukraine and Nigeria are cheaper among US-dollar countries.
PTE exam fee in India
PTE Academic costs ₹18,900 in India, the same as PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core. The PTE Home tests cost ₹15,300. In India you can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayU. Pearson doesn't accept PayPal anywhere.
For comparison, IDP lists IELTS Academic and General Training at ₹19,000 in India. TOEFL iBT costs ₹15,729 before 18% GST, about ₹18,560 with it, as our TOEFL fee guide explains. The three tests are within a few hundred rupees of each other, so the fee is a weak reason to choose one over another.
PTE exam fee in Australia and New Zealand
PTE Academic costs AU$499 in Australia and NZ$505 in New Zealand. PTE Home is AU$420 and NZ$425. PTE Academic is the version both countries accept for visas, and it has to be taken at a test centre. Neither accepts an at-home test.
PTE exam fee in Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other countries
In most other countries Pearson charges in US dollars. A few that people often ask about:
- Nepal: US$248.60 for PTE Academic, UKVI and Core; US$209 for PTE Home A1 and US$209.05 for A2 and B1. Pearson lists centres in Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Tilottama and Itahari.
- Pakistan: US$240; US$200 for PTE Home.
- Bangladesh: US$220; US$185 for PTE Home. Pearson lists centres in Dhaka and Chattogram.
- Sri Lanka: US$230; US$195 for PTE Home.
- United Arab Emirates: AED 1,520; AED 1,290 for PTE Home.
- Nigeria: US$165; US$140 for PTE Home.
- Vietnam: US$185, but Pearson's fee page showed no test centre there when we checked.
What a US-dollar fee costs you in local currency depends on the exchange rate and your card on the day you pay. Every other country is in the full table at the end.
Do PTE Academic, Core, UKVI and Home cost the same?
PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core cost the same in almost every country. Indonesia is the one place where Pearson lists a different price: US$222 for PTE Academic and PTE Core, but US$200 for PTE Academic UKVI. Pearson doesn't list PTE Core in a few places, including Vietnam, Laos, Kyrgyzstan and the Channel Islands. The full table at the end shows which tests each location offers.
The PTE Home tests (A1, A2 and B1) are shorter speaking and listening tests for some UK family, settlement and citizenship applications. They cost less everywhere: US$230 in the US, TRY 8,500 in Turkey, £160 in the UK.
Choose by what your application asks for. If your university or visa doesn't accept the test you took, you'll pay again for the right one.
Is PTE cheaper than IELTS?
Usually, by a small margin. Where both are priced in the same currency, PTE costs less in the US, Turkey, South Korea, India (by ₹100), Australia (by AU$6) and the UAE (by AED 70). The two cost the same in New Zealand, and IELTS is cheaper in China. Where Pearson charges in US dollars and IELTS is priced in local currency, as in Taiwan, Brazil, Japan, Nepal and Pakistan, it depends on the exchange rate.

IELTS fees come from the official British Council and IDP pages for each country, checked on 7 November 2026; where a range is shown, the price depends on the test centre. TOEFL iBT fees are ETS's, from our TOEFL fee guide, and our IELTS fee guide covers IELTS prices and extra fees in more countries. If you only need a test for university admission, the Duolingo English Test costs less than all three where your university accepts it; see our Duolingo English Test fee guide. Our comparison of all five English tests covers where each one is accepted, and PTE vs IELTS compares how you prepare for each.
PTE rescheduling and cancellation fees
Changing your date is free if you do it early, and gets expensive in the last two weeks. Pearson's current rules (its policy pages were last updated on 17 September 2026):
- More than 14 full days before your test: you can reschedule for free, up to six times for one booking. If you cancel instead, you get a full refund.
- 14 days or less before: you can't reschedule. The Reschedule button disappears from myPTE, so you have to cancel and book a new test.
- Cancelling between 14 and 7 days before: you get 50% of the fee back.
- Cancelling 7 days or less before: no refund.
The time counts to the minute. For a test on 20 March at 10:00, you get a full refund if you cancel before 10:00 on 6 March, half back from then until 09:59 on 13 March, and nothing after that. So a late change costs you half the fee or all of it, plus the price of the new booking.
Many fee pages, and some search engine answers, still describe an older rule with a 50% rescheduling fee in the last two weeks. That isn't how Pearson's booking works now.
If illness or a family emergency stops you attending, Pearson may let you reschedule for free. Send the Request Emergency Reschedule form with evidence as soon as you can, and no later than 72 hours after your appointment. Pearson decides case by case.
How much is a PTE rescore?
A rescore costs US$160. A human scorer marks your whole test again, and you request it by phone within 14 calendar days of getting your score. If your overall score or a communicative skills score changes, the US$160 is refunded; the test fee isn't.
- Your score can go down as well as up, and the new score replaces the old one.
- You can only rescore your most recent test, once per registration.
- You can't request a rescore if you've already booked another test.
There is also a technical review for US$50, for when you think a technical problem affected your Speaking recording. It doesn't change your score. If Pearson finds a problem, it refunds your test fee and the review fee. Ask within 15 business days of getting your results.
Most rescores don't change the score, according to Pearson. Before paying, check the scores your target actually needs. Our good PTE score guide helps.
PTE retake fee
A retake is a new booking at the full fee for your country. Pearson's retake policy lists no reduced retake price. The rules:
- You can book again once you've received your scores from the last test.
- You can hold one booking at a time, up to six months ahead.
- You can take the test more than once a month, up to 12 times in 12 months.
Our PTE retake guide explains when another attempt is likely to help.
Is there a PTE late booking fee?
No. Pearson's current payment, cancellation and refund policies and its test taker handbook list no late booking fee. Pearson says you can book as little as 24 hours ahead if a centre has a free seat. Busy centres fill up, though, and results can take up to five working days, so book early when you have a deadline.
How do I pay the PTE fee?
You pay in full when you book, online in myPTE or by phone. Pearson accepts:
- Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards;
- Apple Pay and Google Pay;
- WeChat Pay and Alipay in China, and PayU in India;
- a valid PTE voucher.
Pearson doesn't accept PayPal, and it needs the full fee before it processes a booking, so you can't pay in instalments. You can use someone else's card, such as a parent's, if the billing details match the cardholder. If a payment is declined or later charged back, Pearson cancels the booking or the scores.
PTE vouchers, coupon codes and discounts
A PTE voucher is a prepaid code you use instead of a card when you book. Pearson says it works with voucher resellers in some countries, and its fee page links to approved resellers in Nigeria and China. Pearson's rules for vouchers:
- A voucher pays the test fee only, not a rescheduling fee.
- Pearson can't refund a voucher payment. If you cancel, ask the seller you bought it from.
- A voucher can't be used after it expires, and Pearson won't extend or replace it.
Pearson's fee, payment and help pages don't list any discount or promo codes. It also warns that offers well below the official fee, guaranteed scores and score reports without a test are common signs of a scam. Buy only from a seller Pearson or a known partner backs, and check the country, test type and expiry date before paying.
PrepEx is an authorised ApplyBoard partner (ApplyBoard is one of the resellers Pearson lists for Nigeria). PrepEx itself isn't a Pearson partner. Our PTE voucher page shows what's currently available and what to check before buying.
Can you get a refund if you miss the PTE test?
No. Pearson gives no refund once you're within 7 days of your test, and that includes not turning up. Some mistakes on the day also cost you the fee:
- Arriving late. Pearson asks you to arrive 30 minutes early. If you're late, you can't take the test and you lose the fee.
- ID problems. An expired ID, or a name, date of birth, citizenship or gender that doesn't match your booking, means you're turned away without a refund. If your name doesn't fit the form or differs from your ID, tell Pearson at least three working days before the test.
- Leaving early. Walking out before the test ends means you lose the fee and your scores.
Our PTE test-day checklist covers ID, arrival and what to bring.
Practise before you pay the fee
Each attempt costs the full fee, so check you're ready before you book. Pearson's free Guided Practice Tests show you the test, and practice with scoring tells you whether you're there. On a free PrepEx account you can try one sample of each of the 22 PTE Academic task types, with two graded sessions a day, AI feedback on Speaking and Writing, and answer review on Reading and Listening. PTE Pro adds full-length mock tests in test order, with a 10–90 practice estimate for each skill.

More questions about the PTE fee
How much does the PTE cost?
It depends on the country: US$275 in the US, TRY 10,000 in Turkey, US$251 in Taiwan, €280 in Germany, US$235 in Brazil, CA$360 in Canada and ₹18,900 in India. In US-dollar countries Pearson charges between US$160 and US$425.
Is PTE Core cheaper than PTE Academic?
No. Wherever Pearson lists both tests, PTE Core costs the same as PTE Academic: CA$360 in Canada and ₹18,900 in India, for example.
Is the PTE fee refundable?
Partly. You get a full refund if you cancel more than 14 full days before your test, 50% between 14 and 7 days before, and nothing in the last 7 days. Voucher payments can't be refunded by Pearson.
How many attempts for PTE?
Up to 12 in any 12 months. You can book the next test once you have your scores, and each attempt costs the full fee.
Is PTE valid for 2 or 3 years?
Pearson says two years from the test date, and you can't send a score after that. Some visa rules set their own time limit, so check the rule for your application.
PTE exam fee in every country
This is Pearson's full list, as its fee page showed it on 7 November 2026. Seychelles and Slovakia appear in Pearson's country list with no test centre and no fee, so they're left out. On a small screen, swipe the table sideways; with a keyboard, focus it and use the arrow keys.
