110 for regular admission

These are the university’s own requirements for each test. The IELTS column is not a conversion of the DET column.
Subscores and program differences
DET 95–105 is the published provisional range; IELTS 6.0 is the provisional IELTS threshold. No separate DET subscore minimum is listed. Graduate applicants must consult the Graduate School’s own policy.
Sending your result and checking dates
MSU permits self-reporting for most English proficiency tests when applying. If admitted on self-reported scores, send official results before enrollment. Updates after application must come through the testing agency.
Confirm the current instructions for your program and intake on the official Michigan State admissions page.
How the DET score compares with IELTS
DET 110 compares with IELTS 6.0 in Duolingo’s overall concordance. Michigan State sets its own test requirements, shown above; those requirements take precedence for your application.

Practice around your remaining requirement
If you are aiming for the regular route from a provisional score, use 110 as the published DET threshold and check the rest of the admission conditions with MSU. Work on the weakest individual skill between timed practice sessions.
PrepEx scores are independent practice estimates, not official DET results. Meeting a test threshold does not guarantee admission.
