What should your answer do?
Give a clear answer, explain it, and add details. You do not need an unusual opinion. You need to help the listener understand what you mean.
How to answer
- Read every part of the question.
Notice whether it asks you to describe, explain why, compare, or give an example.
- During preparation, choose a main answer and a useful detail for each part.
Plan in your head.
- Start by answering the question directly.
Then explain your reason or describe what happened.
- Add a specific example.
Explain how it connects to your answer instead of moving to a new topic.
- Check the question while you speak so you cover any remaining part.

I like studying at the library because it is quiet. Last week, I worked there on a difficult assignment. I could focus for an hour without being interrupted.
Why this works
The answer names a place, gives a reason, and uses an experience to explain that reason. You could continue by describing the space or another way it helps you study.
This is a short example opening, not a full 90-second response or a script to memorise.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Answering only the first part. Look back at the question and cover the other parts too.
- Using a long memorised introduction. Start with an answer about this topic.
- Speaking faster to fit in more ideas. Develop a few useful ideas at a pace the listener can follow.
How to improve your next answer
- Listen to your answer with the question in front of you. Check that you answered every part.
- Find one idea that needs a reason or example. Practise adding it, then try a new topic.
