Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a mandatory part of high school programs. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Different position:
Some people believe schools should require students to take part in unpaid community service. I partly agree, because helping locally could be useful, but students should have a choice of activities and the hours should be reasonable.
Is that clear, or too much detail for the intro?

This sounds like agreeing with compulsory service, but with conditions. Would 'I agree, provided that...' fit better? Choosing the activity is different from choosing whether to take part.
