Toronto TOEFL requirements: current and older scores

Toronto requires TOEFL 4.5 overall, with Writing 4.5 and Speaking 4.0. All required scores must come from one test date; MyBest results are not used.

The old column records the university’s historical requirement. It is not a conversion of the current column. Read the date conditions below before using either.

Section scores, test dates and policy scope

The historical row applies to tests completed before January 21, 2026. Toronto lists iBT including Home and Paper editions, but excludes Essentials, ITP and ITP Plus for China. The senior-level English course admission requirement is separate.

Sending your result

Ask ETS to send results electronically using institution code 0982-00. Match your application identity and check the supporting-document deadline in the applicant portal. Submit the official report from a single date.

What to practice for this requirement

Check Writing against 4.5 and Speaking against 4.0, even if your overall estimate is already 4.5. Review a timed Writing response and a recorded Speaking attempt to choose the next practice priority.

Choose a TOEFL practice task or review the task guides. Meeting a test threshold does not guarantee admission.
