Connect a feature to its location and change. For an imaginary past redevelopment: 'The car park beside the station was replaced by shops.' The labels and dates should guide your wording.

Yes, if the position is clear. 'Beside the station' may be more precise. Don't assume the top is north when the map gives no compass direction.
