How does the AI writing feedback compare?
Both platforms provide AI writing feedback and answer-improvement tools. PrepEx combines sentence corrections with explanations and, on Pro, personalized Band 5, 7 and 9 examples built from your prompt, ideas and feedback. Engnovate offers criterion scores, essay enhancement and comparison tools. The useful distinction is how each helps you revise your own answer.
PrepEx's writing reports address the IELTS criteria and include strengths, areas to improve, sentence corrections with explanations, and vocabulary suggestions in context. These give you specific material to work on. You might revise an unclear claim, make a comparison more precise, or correct a sentence pattern that keeps recurring.
Personalized Band 5, 7 and 9 writing examples
With IELTS Pro, you can compare three generated responses to your saved prompt. They reuse relevant ideas from your essay and incorporate its feedback. That makes the comparison useful when you understand a model essay but struggle to improve your own argument.
Read the examples for development, organization and language choices. Notice whether a reason is explained, how a supporting example connects to the claim, and whether the conclusion follows from the discussion. Then revise your own answer without copying an entire generated response.
Engnovate also offers essay-enhancement and comparison tools. PrepEx's specific offer is the three-level comparison built around your prompt, ideas and feedback. Try it when seeing how an answer changes across bands would make the correction easier to apply. The feature is listed on the IELTS Pro page.
A practical way to use the writing feedback
Suppose your report identifies an opinion that lacks support. Choose that one paragraph. Check how the personalized examples connect a reason to an example, then rewrite the paragraph with that connection in mind. Ask Petra to explain any correction you still do not understand. On a fresh task, check whether you can develop a different idea without repeating the same weakness.
This is the benefit to look for in daily AI feedback: an explanation you can use, followed by another opportunity to apply it. For task-specific guidance, see IELTS Writing Task 2 practice or Academic Writing Task 1 practice.
How does the AI speaking feedback compare?
Both platforms offer transcription, pronunciation feedback and tools to improve a speaking answer. PrepEx brings the transcript, criterion feedback and next-session priorities into one report. Pro adds explained examples based on your saved answer, and Petra can help explain the feedback. Compare these workflows using a recording of your own.
PrepEx's speaking report brings together your transcript, feedback by speaking criterion and priorities for the next session. Answer coaching uses quotations from your saved response, explained worked steps and a spoken practice goal. Pronunciation analysis uses retained audio evidence; Pro can show word and sound-level detail where that evidence is available.
The practical benefit is being able to connect a comment with your actual response. If the issue is development, look at what you said and where you stopped explaining. If the issue is pronunciation, use the available audio evidence rather than assuming that rewriting the transcript will solve delivery.
A stronger speaking response using your own ideas
Pro's Examples tab places your saved answer alongside a manageable development and a stronger complete example. The explanations show how a change develops the answer, so you can choose one improvement to practise. These examples use your own response and do not promise a particular band score.
Use an example to plan another spoken attempt. The report’s Practice tab lets you record and replay a local, ungraded rehearsal of the selected answer or passage. Explain the same experience in your own words and listen for the issue you chose to work on. Text examples help with content; pronunciation still depends on how you speak.
Engnovate's checker also provides transcription, pronunciation feedback and speech-improvement tools. PrepEx is worth considering when you want its report, personalized example and Petra guidance together. Engnovate vs PrepEx pricing: what do you get?
PrepEx's quarterly plan costs $59.99 every three months, equivalent to about $20 per month. It brings four-skill practice, personalized writing and speaking examples, extra quick diagnostics, full practice tests, grammar practice and progress review into one IELTS subscription. Monthly billing is $29.99 if a shorter initial commitment suits your preparation.
The value is in the features you will use together. If you need help choosing a weak area, understanding its feedback and finding the next exercise, that complete routine is a reason to consider PrepEx. If you only use one checker occasionally, you may not need a paid plan yet.
| Plan and period | PrepEx IELTS Pro | Engnovate Premium |
|---|---|---|
| One month | $29.99 | $11.97 displayed promotion |
| Three months | $59.99 | $25.97 displayed promotion |
| Payment arrangement | Recurring subscription; cancel future renewals from your account. | One-time payment for the selected period. |
| Premium AI allowance | 6,000 credits per billing cycle; separate from the daily practice cap. | Premium advertises unlimited writing and speaking evaluations. |
All amounts are USD. The listed prices do not make PrepEx the cheaper subscription; the case for choosing it is the study experience described above. These allowances use different units, so they do not establish an equivalent cost per essay or speaking assessment. Check PrepEx pricing and Engnovate's current checkout information before buying.
Choose monthly or quarterly around your practice needs
At the current rates, three monthly PrepEx payments total $89.97. Quarterly billing costs $59.99 for the same access period, a $29.98 reduction in the subscription payment. Both offer Pro features, but their premium credits refresh on different schedules: 6,000 each month on monthly billing, or 6,000 every three months on quarterly billing.
If you expect to use premium speaking and feedback features heavily, consider that refresh schedule alongside the lower quarterly access price. Pro removes the daily practice-session cap; it does not make premium AI usage unlimited.
What can you try for free?
You can evaluate your starting point without buying Pro. PrepEx's Free plan includes the first quick four-skill diagnostic, a shared allowance of two IELTS practice sessions per day and 360 premium credits each month. Free practice uses the eligible free catalog items; some questions and features require Pro.
This gives you a practical first step: get a priority, complete a relevant practice task and read the correction. Decide whether that guidance makes your next session clearer before upgrading.
Engnovate's published Free plan lists two writing evaluations and two speaking evaluations per month. Those evaluation counts are different from PrepEx's daily practice allowance and premium credits. They should not be treated as interchangeable numbers of AI assessments.
Keep Reading and Listening in your preparation plan
Writing and Speaking feedback may be why you look for an alternative, but your IELTS preparation still needs all four skills. PrepEx keeps Reading and Listening practice alongside the productive skills, with full practice tests available on Pro.
Use the diagnostic to select an initial priority. For Reading, review the passage evidence and why an answer fits. For Listening, revisit the relevant part of the audio and the detail you missed. Then use a timed section or full mock to check your pacing. A quick diagnostic gives directional guidance; a full test serves a different purpose.
This article focuses on IELTS Academic preparation. PrepEx's current Writing Task 1 practice centers on visual reports. If you are taking General Training, verify the Reading and letter-writing coverage you need before choosing any plan.
How to decide whether PrepEx's feedback is useful to you
Keep the decision close to your own work. A higher AI band estimate on one platform does not by itself mean better preparation. IELTS publishes the official Writing and Speaking assessment criteria; platform-generated bands are practice estimates.
- Find a specific correction. Can you identify the sentence, spoken answer or delivery issue it refers to?
- Understand the reason. Can you explain why the proposed change helps with the task or language?
- Use the example actively. Compare your approach with the personalized response, then make your own revision.
- Check a new attempt. Look for the same pattern on fresh material, rather than judging progress only on an answer you have rehearsed.
That is where PrepEx's AI feedback, examples and Petra follow-up can earn their place in your study budget. Generated band examples are learning models, not examiner-certified answers. This comparison does not establish that either platform scores more accurately or produces faster band gains.
When PrepEx is the right Engnovate alternative
Choose PrepEx when you want a guided practice routine and are ready to act on the feedback. It is a particularly relevant option if you want to see different writing levels built from your own ideas, develop a speaking answer using a personalized example, or ask Petra to clarify what you should work on next.
You can start free, then choose monthly or quarterly Pro when the additional examples, practice access and tests fit your plan. There is no need to abandon a resource you already find useful. Give PrepEx a defined role in your preparation and judge it by whether your next study session becomes more focused.
