This is a great question! The most basic approach is that when you see the information in the passage, it's False, while if you see nothing about the statement in the passage, it is Not Given. Most falses are the opposite of the statemens: The statement: The lesson starts at 8:00 in the morning. The passage: The lesson starts at 8:30 in the morning. As you can see, the information is in the passage but given in a false way.
