CELPIP Reading Score Calculator and Chart
Use the Reading chart for Reading. Enter a full 38-question practice count and see its approximate compatible levels, with overlapping boundaries preserved.

Reading practice range lookup
Enter a count to see all matching ranges.
Approximate practice reference, not an official score. Overlapping ranges are retained. The combined 10–12 band cannot identify an individual level.
Published approximate raw-score chart
These are the provider’s illustrative ranges, not fixed operational conversion thresholds. M is the chart’s label for its lowest raw-score range.
| CELPIP band | Correct answers |
|---|---|
| 10–12 | 33–38 |
| 9 | 31–33 |
| 8 | 28–31 |
| 7 | 24–28 |
| 6 | 19–25 |
| 5 | 15–20 |
| 4 | 10–16 |
| 3 | 8–11 |
| M | 0–7 |
Use a complete Reading practice count
Enter the whole-number correct count from a complete 38-question practice set. A short correspondence or diagram preview is useful for learning, but multiplying its percentage by 38 does not create a component estimate.
Official Reading scores account for test-form differences. This calculator uses the provider’s published illustration only; it neither applies equating nor predicts how unseen operational questions will be scored.
Reading examples differ from Listening examples
At 30 correct, the Reading chart matches level 8. At 31, both 8 and 9 match. At 33, level 9 and the combined 10–12 band match. Those overlaps are a feature of the source chart, so the calculator does not force a single answer.
The highest range does not separate levels 10, 11 and 12. Strong repeated raw counts can help you plan practice, but an official score report serves a different purpose.
Diagnose by Reading part
- Correspondence: connect the original message with the reply, relationship and implied purpose.
- Apply a Diagram: check every relevant visual constraint before choosing a statement.
- Information: match a statement to a paragraph’s meaning; choose Not stated in the text when evidence is missing.
- Viewpoints: track the author’s qualification and how a comment relates to it.
Use source evidence rather than answer-key memory
After a wrong answer, underline the decisive wording and explain each competing option. “The same word appeared” is not enough: an option can repeat the topic but change the claim’s time, scope or cause.
Try the item again without viewing the explanation, then move to an unseen passage with the same reading operation. If you recover only the familiar answer, the skill may still need work. Separate slow accurate reading from fast inaccurate scanning before changing your timing strategy.
Make a manageable error log
Keep four columns: part, source evidence, tempting interpretation and next drill. For a diagram mistake, the next drill may be checking two conditions together. For a viewpoint mistake, it may be distinguishing partial agreement from full support.
Use the next session to test one pattern. Continue reading across all four parts so a strong correspondence score does not conceal weaker paragraph matching or viewpoint comprehension.
