IELTS Online Community: Webinars, Study Groups and Feedback

An IELTS online community gives you a place to ask preparation questions, share your own writing and learn with other test takers. PrepEx IELTS Community brings together webinars with Aydin Ismayilpur, learner discussions and study resources. You can read public discussions, use published resources and watch available recordings for free.

The useful question is what you want help with: understanding a lesson, finding someone to practise with, or getting feedback on a particular paragraph. Those needs call for different kinds of support. This guide explains how to choose an IELTS study group and how to use the PrepEx IELTS Community between practice sessions.

How do you choose an IELTS online community?

Look at the discussions before joining. Can you find a question similar to yours, a reply that explains its reasoning, and a clear account of what is free? A large membership count alone does not tell you whether anyone will help with the task you are working on.

These are different services, not a ranking. A discussion forum can support your preparation, but it does not automatically include private tutoring, an essay correction service or a scheduled speaking partner. If you need one of those, check that it is explicitly offered.

What is free in PrepEx IELTS Community?

Community membership is free and separate from IELTS PRO. Public reading does not require an account. Sign in and join the community when you want to participate. A webinar may have additional requirements.

Who teaches in the PrepEx IELTS Community?

Aydin Ismayilpur, known as the Hero Teacher, hosts PrepEx IELTS webinars and answers selected community questions. His published profile lists more than 11 years of teaching experience, CELTA Pass B and an overall IELTS score of 8.5.

His published answers give you something to read before posting your own question. You can also exchange feedback with other learners. A reply from a peer is not the same as an instructor's answer, and posting does not guarantee an individual response from Aydin.

Where can you find IELTS webinars and recordings?

The PrepEx webinar page lists sessions with descriptions, dates and access labels. Choose by the problem you want to work on. Before registering, check the displayed time zone, whether registration is open, and whether the session requires IELTS PRO.

A useful starting point is the recording Stuck at IELTS 6.5? How to Reach Band 7 in Speaking & Writing, recorded on 5 September 2026. Its lesson covers Speaking examples, an Academic Writing Task 1 report and ways to use feedback. The title describes the teaching topic; it does not promise that watching the recording will raise your score.

For another free option, the British Council's live IELTS preparation sessions let learners ask an experienced teacher questions. Use the provider's current page for dates and joining details.

Bring one question to a session. Afterwards, try the relevant task yourself and note where you still get stuck. Watching more lessons is not a substitute for finding out whether you can apply one explanation.

How can you get useful IELTS writing feedback from a community?

Share a focused question with enough context for someone to answer. Name the task, include your own short example and explain what you have already tried. In PrepEx discussions, you can read learner questions, post your own writing and exchange peer feedback after joining.

A request such as “Please rate my essay” leaves the reader to diagnose everything. A more specific request might look like this:

I'm practising Task 2. In my second body paragraph, I give a reason and an example, but I am not sure the example supports the reason. Could you point out where the connection becomes unclear? I have included the task and the paragraph below.

This is an illustrative request, not a quotation from a member. Add your actual work when posting. For Academic Task 1, a reader also needs the original visual information to judge whether your description is accurate; link to a permitted source or share material you have the right to share.

When you receive a comment, ask what in your text supports it. IELTS Writing is assessed through Task Achievement or Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. These are the official assessment criteria; a community vote or peer band estimate is not an official result.

Revise one passage and explain what you changed. The IELTS Writing Task 2 guide shows how to develop a paragraph. What IELTS study resources can you use between discussions?

The community resource library contains published notes and vocabulary PDFs. Current topics include Education, Technology and Environment, with words, word families, collocations and activities for using them. There is also a note on asking for useful IELTS feedback.

Choose a topic connected to your next practice. Take a small number of useful expressions, check their meaning and write your own sentences. Then use them where they fit in a new response. Ask about a particular word choice if you are unsure; inserting difficult vocabulary into every sentence can make your meaning less clear.

Keep a record of what you used and what you changed. Downloading a library of PDFs is only the starting point. For test-format practice, pair the resources with official IELTS sample questions or the PrepEx preparation guides.

A weekly routine for an IELTS study group

Use a community to support a small amount of work you can finish. Here is a suggested routine you can adapt around your existing preparation:

1. Choose one problem. Start with a recent attempt. Identify an unclear paragraph, a question type you keep missing, or a speaking answer that is difficult to follow.
2. Find one relevant explanation. Read a discussion, use a resource or watch part of a recording. Write down the change you intend to try.
3. Make a fresh attempt. Apply that change before looking for more advice. Save the first version so you can compare it.
4. Ask one focused question. If something is still unclear, show your attempt and explain the difficulty. While waiting, give another learner a useful comment on something you understand.
5. Review at the end of the week. Record what improved in the work and what needs another attempt. Adjust the next week's task accordingly.

This is a suggested study process, not a timetable for a guaranteed band increase. If you want timed speaking practice with another person, arrange that through a group that offers it; PrepEx community membership does not include a speaking-partner matching service.

Community posts and replies are public and may appear in search engines. Share only work you are comfortable publishing. Keep phone numbers, email addresses, registration details and private result links out of your posts.

Questions about IELTS online communities

What is the best IELTS community for me?

Choose by your immediate need. PrepEx is an option for webinars with Aydin, written discussions and study resources. A speaking group may suit you better when you need live conversation practice; a tutor or correction service may suit you better when you need a promised individual assessment. Check the actual offer before joining.

Can I join an IELTS study group for free?

Yes, free communities exist. PrepEx community membership is free, while some webinars require IELTS PRO. The public discussions, published resources and available recordings can be used without signing in. Other groups have their own access conditions.

Will a teacher mark every essay I post?

PrepEx does not promise teacher marking for every community post. Learners can exchange peer feedback, and Aydin answers selected questions. If you need a guaranteed review, agree the scope and turnaround with a provider that offers that service.

Can Academic and General Training candidates use the community?

Both can read and participate. State which test and task you mean when asking for help. Check lesson labels: an Academic Task 1 report lesson covers a different task from a General Training letter.

Is PrepEx IELTS Community an official IELTS service?

No. PrepEx provides independent preparation. Use official IELTS sources for test rules and assessment criteria. Community feedback and PrepEx practice estimates are not official IELTS results.
