CELPIP Exam Fee 2026: How Much CELPIP Costs in Every Country

CELPIP-General costs CA$299 plus tax in Canada, and CELPIP-General LS, the shorter test for citizenship, costs CA$199 plus tax. For test dates from January 2027, CELPIP's booking list already shows CA$306 and CA$206. Outside Canada, CELPIP sets one price per country: £190 in the UK (£200 from January), US$255 in the United States (US$265 from January), ₦229,000 in Nigeria and A$355 in Australia. In India it costs ₹15,500.

Transferring to another date is free the first time and CA$50 plus tax after that. Cancel at least 7 days before the test in Canada (9 days in most other countries) and you get half the fee back. Sending your score to IRCC costs nothing: you download the PDF score report and upload it yourself.

We read the price next to every CELPIP session on CELPIP's test-date list on 7 November 2026, for all 42 countries where CELPIP lists dates, and checked the rules against its policies page and test overview. Prices can change, so the total shown at checkout in your CELPIP account is the one that counts.

How much does CELPIP cost?

CELPIP comes in two versions, and they're priced differently:

The fee covers:

• the test at a CELPIP test centre (every session on CELPIP's list is at a centre, not at home);
• your scores in your CELPIP account, 2 to 4 business days after the test;
• the official score report as a PDF, which is what you upload to IRCC or send to an employer or school. CELPIP no longer prints paper score reports, and there's no fee for the PDF;
• one free transfer to another date, time or location, if you ask at least 7 days before the test.

There's no paid option for faster results. CELPIP's results page lists only the standard score report and re-evaluation.

CELPIP fee in Canada with tax

In Canada the price on the booking list is before tax. GST or HST is added at checkout, and the rate depends on the province, so the total does too:

A few centres show a slightly different price on some dates; Brooks, Alberta, for example, lists a handful of sessions at CA$295. The price next to the session you pick is the one you pay.

The CELPIP fee increase in January 2027

CELPIP hasn't posted a fee notice yet, but its booking list already shows higher prices for sessions from January 2027:

• Canada: CELPIP-General CA$299 to CA$306, and CELPIP-General LS CA$199 to CA$206;
• United States: US$255 to US$265;
• United Kingdom: £190 to £200 at most sessions;
• United Arab Emirates: AED 1,100 to AED 1,200.

The price follows the test date, not the day you book. Booking a January seat today still costs CA$306, so if you're ready, a December date saves you the difference. In the other countries with January dates listed, the price stays the same.

The fee has gone up before. CELPIP's June 2024 notice moved CELPIP-General from CA$280 to CA$290 from 1 October 2024, and it's CA$299 now.

CELPIP exam fee by country

Outside Canada, CELPIP charges one price per country, usually in the local currency. The UK, the US, Nigeria and Australia come first below; every other country is in the table after them. CELPIP's pages for these countries set the cancellation and transfer deadline at 9 days before the test, and a second transfer costs the local equivalent of CA$50 plus tax.

CELPIP fee in the UK

CELPIP-General costs £190 in the UK for tests until December 2026. From January 2027 most sessions show £200, though a few later dates are still listed at £190, so it's worth scrolling through the dates. Centres are in London, Croydon, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton and Edinburgh. People in the UK take CELPIP for Canadian or Australian applications: it isn't on the Home Office's list of approved tests for UK visas.

CELPIP fee in the USA

CELPIP-General costs US$255 in the United States for tests until December 2026 and US$265 from January 2027. There are centres from New York City, Washington DC, Boston and Philadelphia to Chicago, Ann Arbor, Houston, Austin, Miami, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles (Culver City), San Francisco, San Jose, Portland (Beaverton) and Seattle (Mountlake Terrace). So far, January dates are listed only around Chicago, Portland and Seattle.

CELPIP fee in Nigeria

CELPIP-General costs ₦229,000 in Nigeria, with centres in Lagos, Abuja, Asaba and Port Harcourt, and January 2027 dates are listed at the same price. The price is set in naira, so it doesn't move with the exchange rate the way a US-dollar price does. Nearly half the Nigerian sessions on CELPIP's list were already sold out when we checked, so book early if you're working to a deadline.

CELPIP fee in Australia

CELPIP-General costs A$355 in Australia, at centres in Sydney, Parramatta, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and the price stays the same for 2027 dates so far. Australia's Department of Home Affairs accepts CELPIP General for visas for tests taken at a test centre from 7 August 2025, so one test can now serve Australian and Canadian applications. Home Affairs doesn't accept CELPIP Online.

CELPIP exam fee in India and other countries

Everywhere else, CELPIP charges one set price per country. In India, CELPIP-General costs ₹15,500 at every centre, and the price doesn't change for 2027 sessions so far; CELPIP-General LS costs ₹9,500 at a couple of centres, but it's only for Canadian citizenship. In Pakistan it's US$214, priced in US dollars, so the amount in rupees depends on your bank's exchange rate. In the UAE it's AED 1,100, rising to AED 1,200 from January 2027.

If your country isn't here, CELPIP had no test dates there when we checked. Some countries have only a few sessions a month, so look at the dates before you plan around a deadline.

CELPIP-General LS fee

CELPIP-General LS tests only Listening and Speaking, so it's shorter and cheaper: CA$199 plus tax in Canada (CA$206 from January 2027) and ₹9,500 in India. It counts for Canadian citizenship and nothing else. For permanent residence or Express Entry, IRCC's language test page says you must take CELPIP-General, so the cheaper test would be wasted money there.

CELPIP reschedule fee and other costs

CELPIP cancellation and refund

There's no separate cancellation fee: you lose half the test fee. Cancel in your CELPIP account at least 7 calendar days before the test (9 days outside Canada, by CELPIP's country pages) and CELPIP refunds 50% of what you paid. After that, you get nothing back. If you can still take the test later, a transfer is better value than a cancellation, especially the first one, which is free.

If CELPIP cancels your session, you can ask for a full refund or move the fee to another date.

CELPIP re-evaluation fee

CELPIP doesn't publish its re-evaluation prices on its website. You see the fee in your CELPIP account when you apply, and it depends on which components you choose. You have 6 months from the test date, each component can be re-evaluated once, and the result comes in about 1 to 2 weeks. Requests can't be cancelled.

Speaking and Writing are the components worth considering: if the level goes up, CELPIP refunds that component's fee. Listening and Reading are marked by computer, and CELPIP itself says a re-evaluation there is unlikely to change anything. CELPIP discount code, promo code and vouchers

CELPIP doesn't list public promo codes on its website. The way to pay less is a CELPIP voucher: a prepaid code you buy first and enter when you pay for your booking. Buy one only from the authorized voucher providers CELPIP lists. Its scam warning says fake vouchers are sold on social media and won't be accepted.

Is CELPIP cheaper than IELTS?

In Canada and India, yes. In Canada, CELPIP-General is CA$299 before tax, and IDP Canada lists IELTS between CA$335 and CA$361 before tax. In India, CELPIP-General is ₹15,500, and IDP India lists IELTS at ₹19,000.

Price shouldn't decide it on its own. Both tests count for Express Entry, but they feel different: CELPIP is taken entirely on a computer, Speaking included, and its tasks use everyday situations. Our CELPIP vs IELTS vs TOEFL guide and our comparison of all five tests can help you choose.

How to book CELPIP and pay the fee

1. Create a CELPIP account on celpip.ca. Test centres don't take registrations; in Canada you can also register in person at CELPIP's offices in Vancouver or Toronto.
2. Choose CELPIP-General or CELPIP-General LS, then the country, city and date. The price is shown next to each session.
3. Enter your details exactly as they appear on the ID you'll bring on test day; a mismatch means no test and no refund.
4. Enter a voucher code if you have one, check the total with tax, and pay.

Book the right test the first time. A transfer only moves you to another session of the same test type, so switching between General and LS means cancelling and booking again.

Can you prepare for CELPIP for free?

The test itself is never free, but preparation can be. CELPIP offers free sample tests on its practice page. How to keep your CELPIP cost down

1. Test before January if you can. In Canada, the US, the UK and the UAE, December dates are cheaper than January ones.
2. Use a voucher from an authorized provider. Check the country, test type and expiry date before you buy.
3. Keep your free transfer for when you need it. Move the date at least 7 days ahead (9 outside Canada) instead of cancelling and losing half.
4. Arrive early with the right ID. Arrive 45 minutes before the start; check-in closes 15 minutes before, and a missed check-in costs the whole fee.
5. Book when your practice scores are where you need them. There's no retake discount, so every extra attempt costs the full fee again. A timed mock first shows which skill still needs work.
