OET Exam Fee 2026: How Much the OET Costs, in Your Currency

The full OET costs AU$587 for every profession and test type, except OET on Computer and OET@Home in the US (US$455). Here is that fee in lira, Taiwan dollars, euros, reais, won and other currencies, plus sub-test retakes, rescheduling, refunds and re-marking.

The full OET costs AU$587. That covers all four sub-tests (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking), and it's the same for nurses, doctors and every other profession, whether you take the test on paper, on computer at a venue or as OET@Home. The one exception is the United States, where OET on Computer and OET@Home cost US$455.

Outside the US you pay in Australian dollars, so what leaves your account depends on the exchange rate. On 7 November 2026, AU$587 was about TRY 20,200 in Turkey, TWD 13,200 in Taiwan and €362 in Germany. Retaking a single sub-test on paper costs AU$315, moving your test date costs AU$120 or more, and if you cancel, the most you get back is AU$460.

We checked every OET fee on this page against OET's own pages on 7 November 2026: the test fee, rescheduling, cancellation and refunds, re-marking and third-party payments. OET can change its prices, so the amount shown when you book is the one that counts.

How much does the OET cost?

OET has one price for the full test: AU$587. It includes a AU$7 online booking fee, which OET keeps if you cancel. Your profession and the way you take the test don't change the price, except in the US.

OET@HomeAll four sub-tests online at home with a remote proctor, offered where there's no test venue yetAU$587US$455

OET is available for 12 healthcare professions, including nursing, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and physiotherapy, and all of them pay the same fee. Reading and Listening are the same for everyone; Writing and Speaking use tasks from your own profession.

The format matters for more than convenience. OET says OET@Home isn't accepted by every regulator, so check with the organisation you're applying to before you book it.

OET fee in your currency

OET lists the fee in Australian dollars everywhere except the US. Your bank converts AU$587 when it charges your card, usually at its own rate, and many banks add a foreign transaction fee on top. Use these figures as a guide rather than a quote.

These use ExchangeRate-API's rates at 00:02 UTC on 7 November 2026, rounded; the year-earlier comparisons use European Central Bank reference rates. To redo the sum on the day you book, search "587 AUD to" followed by your currency, then add your bank's foreign transaction fee. Other countries are in a second table further down.

OET fee in the USA

US$455 for OET on Computer at a venue and OET@Home. OET on Paper keeps the worldwide AU$587 price even in the US, which came to about USD 403 at the 7 November rate, so where a paper venue is available it currently works out cheaper, before any card fee. Rescheduling, cancellation and re-marking fees for computer and home tests are set in US dollars too (see the tables below). Single sub-test bookings aren't offered in the US.

If you're an international medical graduate, ECFMG Certification needs OET Medicine with at least 350 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 300 in Writing, all in one test administration. Miss one sub-test and ECFMG asks you to retake all four, so plan on the full fee for every attempt. It sets no limit on how many times you retake.

OET fee in Turkey (OET sınavı ücreti)

About TRY 20,200 at the 7 November rate. A year earlier the same AU$587 came to about TRY 16,100, so the price in lira has gone up by roughly a quarter without OET changing its fee. Check the rate on the day you pay; your card will treat it as a foreign-currency payment.

OET fee in Taiwan (OET 考試費用)

About TWD 13,200. The charge is in Australian dollars, so your bank does the conversion and may add an overseas transaction fee. As everywhere outside the US, the same AU$587 covers OET on Paper, OET on Computer and OET@Home.

OET fee in Germany (OET Kosten)

About €362. Because OET charges AU$587 everywhere outside the US, that's also the euro amount in France, Ireland and the rest of the euro area; only your bank's conversion makes a difference.

OET fee in Brazil (OET preço)

About BRL 2,219. The real has weakened against the Australian dollar over the past year, and the same fee was about BRL 2,040 in November 2025. Brazilian cards also add IOF tax to purchases in foreign currency, so expect your statement to show a little more than the conversion alone.

OET fee in South Korea (OET 시험 비용)

About KRW 549,100. The won has held roughly steady against the Australian dollar, so that's close to the KRW 555,300 the fee came to a year earlier.

OET fee in Canada

About CAD 569. The US$455 price applies only to candidates taking a computer or home test in the United States, so candidates in Canada pay AU$587 like the rest of the world.

OET exam fee in India

About ₹38,000 at the 7 November rate. OET doesn't list a separate rupee price: Indian candidates pay the worldwide AU$587, and it's the same in Kerala, Delhi or any other city. Because the charge is in Australian dollars, your bank treats it as an international card payment. Make sure your card is enabled for international online use, and check what your bank adds as a forex markup.

OET exam fee in the UK

About £302. If you're a nurse or midwife applying to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), check one rule before you count on a cheaper sub-test retake. The NMC lets you combine OET scores from two sittings taken within 12 months of each other, but you have to sit all four sub-tests each time. A sitting where you retake only one or two sub-tests can't be used for NMC registration.

OET fee in Pakistan

About PKR 111,600 at the 7 November rate. As in India, you pay AU$587 by card, and any refund goes back to that same card, so use one that will still be valid in a few weeks. The rupee figure moves with the exchange rate, which is why the price you saw a few months ago may not match today's.

OET sub-test fees: retaking one, two or three sub-tests

If you've already taken the full OET and only missed the grade you need in one or two sub-tests, you can book just those sub-tests on OET on Paper, at most venues outside the US.

Sub-tests bookedFee
1 sub-testAU$315
2 sub-testsAU$415
3 sub-testsAU$515
Full test (4 sub-tests)AU$587

There are three conditions. You can only book sub-tests on paper, only after you've taken the full OET, and the result only helps if the organisation receiving it accepts results from fewer than four sub-tests. The NMC, for example, doesn't. Ask your regulator first.

The prices don't scale evenly, either. One sub-test costs more than half the full fee. If you need three sub-tests, the full test costs only AU$72 more, and it's the only option if your regulator wants all four sub-tests from one sitting.

OET rescheduling fee

You can move your test to another date, venue or test type for a fee. The fee depends on the test type and how close to the test you change it.

OET rescheduling fees (checked 7 November 2026)

OET on Computer or OET@Home, less than 7 days before the testAU$200US$155
Speaking only (computer and home), up to 7 days before the testAU$30US$25

The deadlines are firm:

  • OET on Paper: you can reschedule (OET calls it deferring) up to the day before your test, in your myOET account. There's no late option on the day itself, and a deferral can't be reversed.
  • OET on Computer and OET@Home: you can reschedule up to two days before your first sub-test. If you move Listening, Reading and Writing, you must move Speaking too. Once you've taken one sub-test, you can't move the others.
  • Moving to another country: contact OET's customer service rather than changing it yourself.

OET cancellation and refund

You can cancel in your OET account, but you won't get the full AU$587 back. OET keeps a cancellation fee of AU$120 if you cancel before bookings close, or AU$200 after, plus the AU$7 booking fee.

OET refund for the full test (checked 7 November 2026)

After the booking closing dateAU$380, up to 23:59 the week before test dayAU$380 (US$295 in the US), up to two days before the test
Later than thatNo refundNo refund

For OET on Paper, the cut-off is one week before: for a Friday test, you can cancel until 23:59 on the Saturday before. For computer and home tests, it's two days before: for a 9:00 Saturday test, until 9:00 on Thursday.

If you booked fewer than four sub-tests on paper, the refund is AU$188, AU$288 or AU$388 (one, two or three sub-tests) before bookings close, and AU$108, AU$208 or AU$308 after. OET returns refunds to the card you paid with within 7–10 business days. A cancellation can't be undone.

OET re-mark fee

A re-mark costs AU$120 per sub-test (US$95 in the US). You have to request it within 72 hours of your results being released, and OET only looks at requests that have been paid for.

  • The outcome takes three to six weeks.
  • If your grade changes, OET refunds the fee. If it doesn't, you lose it.
  • A re-mark can lower your score as well as raise it, and the new result can't be swapped back.
  • If you then appeal the re-mark outcome, each stage of the appeal costs another AU$120 (US$95 in the US).

A re-mark makes most sense when a sub-test is just below the grade you need. If you're well short, the fee and the weeks of waiting are usually better spent on preparation for a new attempt.

When do OET bookings close?

Bookings for OET on Paper close 24 days before the test date. Bookings for OET on Computer and OET@Home close 7 days before, at 11:59 p.m. UTC. The closing date also decides your refund and your paper rescheduling fee, so it's worth knowing before you pay. You'll find it for each date on OET's booking page.

Can an employer or agency pay for your OET?

Yes. OET has a third-party payment service that lets an employer, recruiter or other organisation pay for one candidate or a group. The fee is the same: AU$587, or US$455 for computer and home tests in the US. The payer can use a bank transfer or a card, and the application and payment have to reach OET 14 calendar days before the advertised booking closing date.

For paper tests, OET books the test after each candidate signs a consent form. For computer and home tests, each candidate receives a voucher by email and uses it to book. OET's fee pages don't list public discount codes or fee waivers, so a sponsor paying through this service is the usual way to avoid paying the fee yourself.

Is OET more expensive than IELTS?

In India, yes, by a wide margin. OET's AU$587 comes to about ₹38,000, while IDP India lists IELTS Academic at ₹19,000, so OET costs about twice as much. Elsewhere, compare the OET figure in the table above with the IELTS price at your nearest centre.

The fee for one attempt isn't the whole cost, though. What decides it is how many attempts you need. OET's Writing task is a letter about a patient, such as a referral or discharge letter, and Speaking is two role-plays with a patient or relative. If that work is familiar, OET may take you fewer attempts than IELTS's general academic tasks.

For UK nursing and midwifery registration, the NMC accepts only IELTS Academic and OET. It asks for OET grade B (350) in Listening, Reading and Speaking and C+ (300) in Writing, or IELTS 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 6.5 in Writing. You can't combine an IELTS sitting with an OET sitting. If you're weighing IELTS instead, you can try free IELTS practice with band estimates.

How to keep your OET cost down

  1. Check your regulator's rules before you book. Confirm which test types it accepts, the grades it wants, and whether it takes sub-test results or combined sittings.
  2. Book well before bookings close. That's 24 days ahead for paper and 7 days for computer and OET@Home. Changing or cancelling after the closing date costs more.
  3. If you must move your test, do it early. AU$120 instead of AU$200. On computer, moving only Speaking costs AU$30.
  4. Pay with a card that has low foreign transaction fees. Outside the US you're paying in Australian dollars.
  5. Request a re-mark only when you're close. The AU$120 per sub-test comes back only if your grade changes.
  6. Book when your practice results reach your target. A full retake costs another AU$587. A timed practice test of all four sub-tests shows which one is holding you back.

A free PrepEx account includes one full OET Nursing practice test and one OET Medicine practice test, timed like OET on Computer, with Speaking role-plays and feedback on your Writing and Speaking. There are also free practice sets for each sub-test if you'd rather start small.

More questions about the OET fee

How much is the OET exam in the Philippines?

The same AU$587 as in other countries, which was about ₱25,400 on 7 November 2026. Your card's conversion rate and fees decide the final peso amount.

How much is an OET test in the USA?

US$455 for OET on Computer at a venue or OET@Home, and AU$587 for OET on Paper. Rescheduling costs US$95 up to 7 days before the test and US$155 after that.

Is the OET fee the same for nurses and doctors?

Yes. OET Nursing, OET Medicine and the other ten professions all cost AU$587 for the full test.

Is OET@Home cheaper than taking the test at a venue?

No. OET@Home costs AU$587, the same as a venue test, and US$455 in the US, the same as OET on Computer. It's also only offered where there's no test venue yet, and not every regulator accepts it.

How much does it cost to retake the OET?

A full retake costs AU$587 again. If you've taken the full test before, you can book one, two or three sub-tests on paper for AU$315, AU$415 or AU$515, but only if your regulator accepts sub-test results.

Can I pay the OET fee in rupees or my local currency?

OET lists the fee in Australian dollars, or US dollars for computer and home tests in the US. You can pay with a card in another currency, and your bank converts the amount.

Is there an OET discount code or voucher?

OET's fee pages don't list any public discount codes or fee waivers. Vouchers exist, but they come through OET's third-party payment service, when an employer or agency pays for your test.

How long is an OET result valid?

OET leaves that to the organisations that accept it, so check your regulator. The NMC, for example, accepts test results from the two years before it assesses your application.
