If the course page only lists IELTS 7, would you ask admissions about PTE before booking either test?

Mia_ch commented · 08 October 2026

Those two are the same. Reading and Writing differ, so choose those practice materials for the test you actually need.

The linked webinar is about Academic Task 1. Which bit do you need help starting: reading the visual, choosing the main points, or turning those points into sentences?

Mia_ch commented · 08 October 2026

Do you mean 7.5 in Writing or 7.5 overall? If it's Writing, sharing a response and the task would help people give advice beyond a general band target.

What should the email ask so they don't just send back the standard IELTS requirements?

What should I discuss at my first session with an IELTS tutor?

Would an uncorrected Writing answer be useful, or should I do a full practice test first? I want to ask for something more useful than just a band estimate.

Academic Task 1 can use graphs, tables, charts or diagrams, including processes and maps. You can also get more than one visual in the same question.

Would one paragraph for the table and one for the bar chart be acceptable if they show different things?

Mia_ch commented · 08 October 2026

Would you leave an unfinished answer unfinished? Fixing it first sounds polite, but then they won't see where the time went.

For the Academic Task 1 in the webinar, include what the visual shows, its main features, and details that support them. You don't need to describe every number.

They're for different purposes. Academic is for degree study or professional registration, while General Training is used for things like migration or study below degree level. Check which test the place you're applying to accepts.

IELTS One Skill Retake: do all universities accept it?

If a university page just says “IELTS Academic”, is that enough to know it accepts One Skill Retake, or does that need a separate check?

The instructions line names the type, so matching information usually says 'which paragraph contains the following information' while headings says 'choose the correct heading'. Worth reading that line before the passage.

I'd let them finish. Then the listener can say what they understood and which phrase helped, before correcting anything unclear.

Could add one thing after the last keyword, like what changed or how you felt? Otherwise the notes seem to stop at the cue-card points.

Mia_ch commented · 29 September 2026

Could add what they said afterwards and whether they changed their view? Then the notes go beyond the disagreement itself.

Could we try the phrase with two different subjects and compare? That might show whether we only know it in the original sentence.

This candidate used one main skill at a time around work. Not copying their hours, but could each short session cover one difficulty plus time to check it?

Mia_ch commented · 24 September 2026

Could I use an article from college for this? Or better to start with an IELTS question so I know what I'm reading for?

Mia_ch commented · 24 September 2026

Could the intro say 'I support free tuition for students who cannot afford it, rather than for everyone'? Would that make 'partly agree' clearer?
