Reading is the one im working on. When a heading seems to fit only the first half of a paragraph, is that a sign it covers a detail rather than the main idea?

That's mostly yes, however there's a catch; sometimes the ending of the paragraph may change towards something different although this is a rarity. Double-checking is always recommended.
