What does this complex-sentences PDF cover?

The guide compares simple, compound and complex sentences, groups connectors by meaning, and explains relative clauses. Examples address reasons, contrasts, conditions and time, as well as comma splices, fragments and double connectors.

What can I practise?

Identify sentence structures, choose connectors, join short sentences and correct mistakes. The PDF includes an answer key. When revising your own writing, choose a structure that expresses the relationship between your ideas clearly.

Answer-key note: is “The internet has changed how we work” complex?

Yes. Task 1, item 1 on PDF page 7 contains the subordinate clause “how we work”, so it is a complex sentence. The answer key on page 9 labels it simple; use complex when checking this item.

Does using complex sentences guarantee a higher IELTS band?

No. IELTS assesses grammatical range and accuracy alongside the other criteria. A longer sentence or a corrected example cannot establish the band of a complete response.
