Could you show one Task 2 paragraph on Friday and explain what each sentence adds? Not sure where explaining an idea turns into repeating it.

Maybe use school uniforms and bullying? One point, the reason behind it, then an example. Easier to see the difference with a simple topic.

For the uniform paragraph, could we cover the explanation and ask what's missing? Then cover the example and compare.
Would that show repetition, or could we miss something the task needs?

Keep the task question beside it too. A sentence might look unnecessary on its own but still answer part of the task. What changes when you cover it?

What if it repeats the idea but makes your position clearer? wouldnt removing it make things worse?
Also does this work for a Task 1 overview?

For the overview, if both sentences say same trend, do we only need it once? Not sure the cover test works the same there.

If both sentences just say the same trend, one can go. I'd check whether the overview still covers the main features, rather than count sentences. A different trend or exception might need its own sentence.

okay, so the second sentence needs a different point, like an exception. not the same trend reworded

If the repeat adds a clear position, maybe it is not just repetition. But if the first sentence already says your position, the second one might only use different words. I would look for a new reason or example instead.

For overviews the cover test is different. Cover sentence two and see if the main contrast still stands. If it does, sentence two is probably just the same trend in new words.

So cover sentence two: if the main contrast is still there, it was only the same trend in new words. Thats clearer, thanks.
